Since the campus email system is powered by Google, the spam filters set up by Google automatically divert messages that are suspected of being unwanted into '[Gmail]/Spam,' keeping them out of your inbox.
Report Spam and Phishing to Google
Report spam and phishing directly to Google. This helps put these emails on their radar. You must do this from your UCSC email on Google's website by logging into email.ucsc.edu with your CruzID and Blue password. Once your inbox loads, select the message you'd like to report.- SPAM: click on the spam button in the toolbar above your message list (the one that looks like a stop sign with an exclamation mark). See Google's instructions for more details about reporting spam.
- PHISHING: open the message and click on the drop-down arrow next to the reply button in the top right corner of the email and select "Report phishing" (you can also report spam this way). See Google's instructions for more details about reporting phishing.
